Rude staff who do exactly what they want

Definitely not a 5 star hotel. No turn down service offered, very hit and miss in terms of service. In contrast to the Lisbon I’ve experienced before and during our visit this time round some of the staff are downright rude and hostile. I exclude the restaurant staff from this, they work incredibly hard, are polite professional and helpful. My poor review is in relation to the reception staff whom I came into contact with, the guy who sits at the pool and the cleaning staff. Reception: Arrival at hotel check in very slow. The young man who checked us in was new and didn’t know as much about the hotel as we did, my daughter stayed last year. He told us we did not need to book the spa when you do. Our stay is for 4 nights yet he seemed to think this meant 3 breakfasts only. When we booked via EasyJet holidays there was a technical glitch in the system which meant we couldn’t add and pay for breakfast at the same time. We rang EasyJet who confirmed we could pay at the same price when we arrived at the hotel. The young man serving us asked his colleague to help with this, she was rude and hostile and clearly her favourite word was no. She kept going on about using the QR code in the room, as we were still going through check in I asked for the QR code. She gave me a death stare and started muttering, then uttered her favourite word, ‘no’. By this point having stood for over an hour to check in I asked if I could speak to the manager of the hotel. She kept interrupting me when I was speaking, I called her out and said I cannot deal with you, she immediately tried to backtrack. Reception are the first impression visitors get of a hotel, I’m well travelled and usually they are polite, friendly and approachable. Not here. I saw the same behaviour and attitude meted out to other guests. Reception don’t answer the phone if they are dealing with checkins etc, easier to go downstairs and queue. Pool guy: A man who has an easy job but does exactly what he wants to do. He sits sunbathing with his top off watching very loud programmes on his phone. He doesn’t want to help you put up the umbrellas, it’s too much of an inconvenience for him. He disappeared today, we wanted some towels so I left 2 pool cards and took 2 towels. He came up to me insisting I owed him 2 cards which I clearly explained I’d left beside his other pile of cards. He likes to strip off and go for a swim himself, is another one who never smiles or is approachable, everything is too much trouble. Cleaning staff: The 2 on our floor deliberately don’t give you eye contact so you can say hello. However one of them clearly liked one of the male guests and was all smiles and chatting away to him. The room we were allocated was not as good as last year, they couldn’t/wouldn’t move us as the hotel was full. Hotel desperately needs sorting out in terms of staff mentioned above. I would not recommend staying here, which is a shame, if the staff behaved in a professional friendly and helpful manner I would. For clarity I’m not an unreasonable or high maintenance guest in any way, but I can honestly say that some of the staff in this hotel are the most negative and unhelpful I’ve ever come across. 2 stars, would’ve been 1 but I gave 2 because it’s unfair to include the restaurant staff in the poor review who are lovely.

No longer a 5 star hotel like last year

Stayed here before and was amazing, unfortunately this year was not the same. Unfriendly and unhelpful reception staff and check in. We had a different room last year with a lovely view, this year no view and dark, even though we booked the exact same one and didn’t upgrade. Lifeguard at the pool blasting their phone and acting like they’re on holiday themselves using the pool and not helping any of the guests. Rooms not cleaned and having to ask at 4:30pm at reception if they could be. Prices have also massively increased, nearly by 15%, understand inflation but this seems very extreme. A treatment last year was €72 now €120. The 1 hour book in for the indoor pool is not monitored by the staff properly meaning guests have to wait 15 minutes to use themselves and cut into their time as other guests overrun. Positive feedback; breakfast was nice, Spa staff/restaurant staff/ restaurant manager/pool side waiter all lovely and attentive. But unfortunately when we come back again next year will be trying out a different hotel. It’s not longer a five star experience, it’s four star at a push and the upper management don’t seem to mind loosing returning customers or business.

The room was quite modern but it’s not a five star room. It was cleaned daily so that was a good thing. The bed was not comfortable, we asked for a double bed but god two terrible single beds with the worst pillows!!! The robes in the room were torn on the belt level but they didn’t bother about this detail, we had no slippers, we needed to ask for them and they were washed out!!! We loved the staff but it’s too bad to hear so many noises while the cleaning staff were preparing the other rooms. We also had noise as our bed was located on the road side, so if you are sensitive like we were ask to have a room on another side. We booked the spa for 9:00am but the staff didn’t show up before 9:50 after we went to complain at the reception! The bar is lovely but the cocktails not as much! This is a OKAY hotel in a nice neighborhood but not for a five star experience!

Lovely modern and light hotel with huge rooms and a great breakfast buffet. I loved the provision of chilled water in the corridor so we could refill our bottles. The yoga mat was also great. Bed was comfy and the room was quiet. Staff were very nice. Great location for a walk into town and the much busier areas of Lisbon.

My wife and I have just returned from a 4 day stay, on arrival the reception was professional and friendly and remained so throughout. The room was of good size very comfortable good facilities and well maintained on a daily basis. Excellent night sleep. The breakfast was of the highest quality, plenty of choice and variety, all the staff could not of been more helpful and polite. Excellent breakfast enjoyed every day. The hotel bar was comfortable and had a good selection of snacks, excellent food. Particular mention must be given to Pedro, Gopal and Joao for their excellent service, charm and knowledge, could not be faulted . My wife and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel for quality, professional and friendly service and good proximity to tourist attractions.
